Watching over the Kibbles and counting down the meowdicine

On Friday 10.4.13 Maudy ate some juice from the Friskies canned food (he is not allowed to eat that b/c of his crystals - but to entice him - it was warranted.) Saturday morning I picked up some of the urinary SO in wet and fed it to him - he took a little bit here and there.  Called the vet @VCAH- she is going to prescribe an appetite enhancer for him - oh and it's an anti-nausea too. (I also mentioned that I had stopped the Flagyl for 1 1/2 days to see if that would help, but she told me that he needs to finish them - so we will continue with that.)
Sunday 10.5.13 I picked up the one pill cut into 4 pieces.  I am to give him one piece every 3 days. One piece went down the hatch on Sunday - he started to eat a little - YAY!  and Monday he ate a little more. He is still not himself - It has been almost 3 weeks now.
He has some meowdicine (Flagyl) to finish.. there are 3-4 more days of that.  And then the last pill for his appetite will be given next Tuesday the 15th.
He is really trying to get better - howled at the back door of the apartment last night - so we let him out into the hallway - he likes to run up the steps to the 3rd floor - he just hopped and then laid down on the first landing. He smells his catnip toys, but doesn't play with them, 'sigh'.
Still no play time w/Daphne - I put her on the floor in front of him and he growled and hissed - that's ok.. he's not ready yet.

MAUDY - PLEASE GET BETTER SOON

It's almost noon - I hope my Maudy is doing ok.  Getting his rest - watching the birds.. enjoying the sunshine from the window.  Just thinking about him.. wishing I was there to do snugglewugglies.  I love you sooooo much my best boy. Cannot wait to see you later   >^..^<

.. went home and had some nice quality snuggles with Maudy - it gives me lots of warm fuzzies - especially b/c he came to me for cuddles!

September 19th and 20th Vet and Animal Hospital

On Thursday, September 19th, Maudy wasn't feeling very well.  He was throwing up and not eating/drinking.  I gave it almost 24 hours before I called the Animal Hospital (in Valley Cottage, NY).
.. now it is Friday morning, September 20th - Maudy is still sick (already made the call to the Animal Hospital - appointment is for 11:30am.)
.. Daphne has a 9am appointment with the local vet, Dr. Krauter (Hackensack, NJ) for a check up b/c she is a new kitty, and although the pound gave her vaccines and such - one has to always check in with their own vet.  She got a booster shot and we had a little concern w/ick in one of her ears and some eye goobers - I was told to watch her and report back if it doesn't go away.  At this visit we also find out that she has RoundWorm and needs to be treated for it.
Maudy and Daphne have had playtime for a few hours each evening - so they already have been exposed to each other.

Now I am more panicked than I was earlier because of Maudys sudden onset illness.

side note - Maudy has had surgery already at 2 1/2 and a couple of other assorted liver issues - they feel as if his immune system is compromised b/c he has a chronic liver disease.

Maudy was in VCAH from September 20th through September 23rd. - I picked him up that Monday night.
While he was there he was dehydrated, had a fever, and wouldn't eat, and his belly hurt.  They did a number of different blood tests and and infectious disease panel, and x-ray and an ultrasound.  They also treated him for RoundWorm just in case he had it. The liver enzymes were elevated, and they didn't know why he had a fever.  When the fever finally broke - he started to eat and get back into it a little bit.  I was so devastated - crying and all - so worried about my baby boy!!!  When he came home I felt better, but still worried.  He first 2 days he was ok - his eating was a little bit off, but that was to be expected.  I also had to give him medicine 3 times a day - no one likes to take meowdicine!!  >^..^<  Then he got a cold!!!  Sneezing all of the time and had a runny nose.  Then the next day runny eye - UGH!!  I kept him warm and he still ate and drank - so the signs are still good.  Now I think that the cold has worn off, but for the past couple of days I notice that the food in his bowl hasn't been touched.  If he has eaten, it was very minimal.  This weekend I will keep close watch on that.  I cannot loose my heart and soul (that would be Maudy) he just has to get back to himself.

In the mean time - Daphne has been cooped up in the bathroom - where she finds the sink and the flushing of the toilet interesting.  I am keeping them apart 'just in case' - but as soon as Maudy eats - I think that we will have a play time.

New Kitty

Adopted a new kitty from the Teterboro Animal Shelter on September 7th.  I named her Daphne.

She is a little tabby cat, with cute markings.

Don't know if Maudy will like this - he is 9 1/2 years old - and she is just 5-6 months old.

They have play time at night - and for the most part it goes pretty well.

I am not going to go any higher - the bathroom has wallpaper that is no longer flush - and it needs a new tub and new tiles in the tub/shower area.

Going to the Doctor Today

Since I was a good little diabetes patient - I was able to go for 3 months w/o a doctors visit.  So, my check up is today.
Needless to say, I have not been good over the past 2 months.
At the beginning of the year, I had TMJ, which was quite beneficial in curbing my eating habits - since that is better my cravings/emotional eating is on the high. And my excuses are a plenty.  
I am hoping that if she can increase the Victoza that I am taking that this will help curb my appetite..
There has also been no physical activity in the past 2 months either.  I am paying a gym membership and not going.  If anyone knows where I can buy some ambition - please let me know!

7.18.13 - 
The doctor gave me a good report.. aside from gaining some weight back, and my vitamin D level being just a hair under what it should be - everything else is right on target.  She actually laughed at me b/c I was in such disbelief!!  I am still skeptical.  A new intern took my vitals and such and I think that she may have written my A1C down incorrectly - that was the main thing I was worried about.
I am trying to get my lab work from Quest.  They have a new app for the phone called Gazelle - it is made by Quest.  I had my lab-work done on July 2nd - and it should already be posted in my account, but it's not.  I had contacted them 24 hours ago.. I will let you know if/when they respond - otherwise my excitement for this app is moot.

Called the customer service number for Gazelle  (877) 291-7521 the gentleman was very nice and said that they were working on a backlog, but I would have my labs sent to me within the hour - and they were - and they confirmed that my A1C was 6.5.  Huh?!?!

40 and Fabulous!

So, last month, on June 16th, I officially entered 'mid life'.
The awesome thing about my Birthday this year is that it fell on Father's Day -- and I decided that I would fly south to be with my parents to celebrate!  That's exactly where I wanted to be!!  Usually, I don't care much about my Birthday.. but I think that might be changing in the years to come.

The Great Condo Hunt Continues - now with more speed.

Been on the hunt for a while now.... it was just casual for quite a while - if I saw the right thing - great.. but if not that would be fine too.  

Now it's more serious. 

It has to be a condo that allows cats.

A co-op would be lovely - but they are usually not pet friendly.  Also would be lovely to have the doorman/pool/tennis/basketball/community rooms/gym -- but really, I would only use the pool and would enjoy having a doorman.. but that is all.  Plus you own part of the building - not really your unit and you are very limited on what you can do.

Condo it is for me -- preferably with a terrace.

Looking through all of Bergen County - and some of Hudson County as well. (Westwood, Dumont, Bergenfield, Bogota, Cresskill, Edgewater, Fort Lee, Cliffside Park, Secaucus, Ridgefield Park.. you get the drift.) I have come to the conclusion that Hackensack is the best location for all parties concerned.  My friends would not be too far away and I would be closer to work.  Hackensack also offers an easy route to highways. And I am familiar with the area.  There were a few things in other areas like - Wayne - and although I am fairly familiar with the area - it's not in my comfort zone.

Looked at a few Garden Apartments too - decided that the laundry must be in the unit (score!!), on the floor, or in the building.  I don't want to have to walk outside to get to said laundry facility b/c I am now going to own my place - not rent.

About a month ago I took too long to bid on a unit and someone got there before I did :-(

Saturday I looked at a unit below on Prospect -  they just dropped the price to it.  Very old fashioned building - sunken living room - small kitchen and bath - totally in a time warp - but in a good way. (Needed new stove/fridge.. ok, can still deal)  Good amount of room and closets.  But - you had to be on a waiting list for a parking space. - Ya, NO - I want to come home and park my car.  To be fair, although the unit was cute - it was not for me.

Mother's Day

How was everybody's Mother's Day?

Mine was restful.. I love relaxing! 
I went to the gym in the morning for BodyFlow class.
Came home - took a little nap with 4 pawed furry boy - Maudy - then we watched (on Skype) my Mommy open the prezzies I sent to her.  I think she was happy w/her gifts - especially the owl I crocheted for her!!
For the rest of the afternoon Maudy and I watched some medical documentaries.. it was a nice day :-)

24 hour Fitness

Had a personal trainer for 3 sessions - signed up for an introductory special - he made me work -- my poor sedentary body - my sad - sit at a desk all day at the computer lazy ass carcass.. good - I needed that.. but to continue on with training - $$major$$..  I might try looking into 1/2 sessions - those are more affordable.

I have to say - you can eat off of the floor in this club - it is spotless! They have extra things like RaquetBall and Basketball - also a pool with a Jacuzzi / sauna / and steam room in the immediate area.  N-I-C-E.  I love to swim -- and yes -- I take aqua classes!!  It's awesome!!  You walk in - they give you a clean towel.  They always say 'hello', sometimes you even get 'hello with your name' (to be fair.. they see your name when you use your sign in on the computer/finger scanner gadget - but it's nice nevertheless!!)  They have a juice bar and child care too.. in case you are interested to know. Tons of cardio equipment too!  The regular weights area and circuit machines.. I am happy there.  

There are ALL types of people there - for ALL different reasons.. no one seems to judge there.  I will tell you that I HAD been a member of Bally Total Fitness -- boy was that a meat market! And so congested! And at times intimidating. Love this place - things are more spread out!

We like the Aqua class ! (It's not just for old fogies!)
We also like 'BodyFlow' - this is a combo TaiChi/Yoga/Pilates
Tried straight up Pilates - woooooooah - I think that we would grade ourselves w/a D - and that is just because we tried so hard.  
We tried Spin - we will do this class now once a week with only one particular instructor. It's hard to stand up sometimes.. but it hurts the butt to sit!  Hahha! We will get used to it :-)
On Saturday - we will try the Step Class.
(We try to do something new every week - if we don't like it - we hold off for a while.. maybe we will revisit with a different instructor - or when we feel stronger)

If I go alone - I usually only just do the elliptical  for an hour.. and perhaps a swim.  On the E - you can plug your Ipod in - it will keep the charge for you and save your workout info - another neat little perk!

Everyday stuff..

Food Cravings -- Yesterday work wasn't too bad.. but hit the DD on the way home for a 2 muffins and a donut!  - I was craving a corn muffin like MAD for some reason.  America doesn't 'run' on Dunkin - they are going to get their asses FAT on Dunkin!  Hahah. (For me - self control is not a plenty).  I wished I liked coffee - then all of this would make sense -- BUT even Coffee isn't Coffee anymore - Latte, Frap, Iced, Chilled - w/chocolate w/caramel w/chips of some sort and whipped cream??  "Seriously".  I am sure it is delish..  And if you want regular coffee, folks, it still exists - but the world is trending in everything now :-) Then I went to Stop and Shop and got Peanut M&Ms - got 2 6pk snack size -- and by 2am the next morning - I had devoured them all - in between was a chicken sandwich and fries from Wendys.

Today - work isn't bad either.. debating going to the gym.  If I am not going for a class at the gym - and I go afterwork - I usually do an hour on the elliptical and that will do it -- sometimes take a swim -- I LOVE to be in the water! Weather is gloomyish today - but it's good to be inside where it's dry and warm.

Let us introduce ourselves..

Let's call me 'Zodie" - and my kitty cat's given name is "Sylvester".. but he goes by other nick-names.  The nick-name that tends to stick most consistently is Maudy and lately Mouse seems to stick too - they are used 50/50.

Maudy is a male.. he wants me to make sure that we get that out there, as I enjoy typing in pink.

Born in 2004.

He is the finest of the Tuxedo Cats in the land and he is my very good boy!

Maudy had been though a lot already his first 4 years of life - he had crystals in his bladder and needed surgery and hospitalization.  He came through that with flying colors.  Then.. his liver went a little bit wonky - so there more more visits and overnighters at the animal hospital and medicine..  I call it 'meowdicine'.  

I thank  Valley Cottage Animal Hospital  and Dr Krauter @ Hackensack Animal Hospital for their caring and most brilliant staff - for getting Maudy better.  Kitty has some lingering issues with pooping now.. so he is taking Lactulose for that as long as it helps.  I call that meowdicine "yuck-yucks" - cuz it's sticky.  Every morning and night I sing him a little song when I give it to him...  ahhh-hemm... -- "Yuck-yucks are yucky, disgusting and gross, but I give them to you cause I love you the most" -- what do you think?? - Catchy, no?

I was born in 1973 - to two of the bestest parents ever!!

I will tell you that I am a Gemini -- a true Gemini ! And just to prove it - I drew a tattoo and had it marked to  the inside of my ankle.  (This is one of my favorite tattoos!)

Time for Mommy to get out of work

Mommy - have a safe ride home!  Are you stopping on the way for noms??  (Sometimes Mommy eats things that she shouldn't eat.. they make her sick - she has to be careful.)  She was supposed to go to the gym today, but my whiskers are telling me that she is not.  I will have to make sure she goes tomorrow morning.

Meow.

I think that I am on nap #3 or 4..  One humans alarm went off around 3am this morning -- I though that would be a good time to sing -- so I did. - And most beautifully, I might add.  I bit the man one or twice.. because I can - I was playing (mostly).  I went to have a snack and then laid up on the bed with my Momma.  She loves my company more than anything else in the whole universe.  I have to say that I am one lucky feee-lion!  Her alarms starts going off at 6:16 - and she usually doesn't get up until after 7..  I have learned to ignore the beeping and re-beeping.. but it can become annoying at times.  Today I saw her wrapping prezzies - they were for her Mommy who lives down in Florida for Mother's Day.  She has been gone from the house for about 3 and 1/2 hours now.. but she will be back tonight and will be happy to see me.  I wonder what she does all day.. she goes to work -- I have heard of this place before, apparently many, many humans occupy their time this way.  Is it any good?? - this work thing that they do??  I know when Mom is home during the week - she likes to watch talk shows in the morning.. and it seems that she enjoys that -- so work must be even better than that!  I prefer to stay home here where it's comfy. 

... Just saw this -- I think I would like it in black though -- to match mai tuxedo !
